The People...
Cyd & co., Score & co., Kristi & co., Heather & co., and me & co.
Cyd & co., Score & co., Kristi & co., Heather & co., and me & co.
This moose just walked through our campsite and then parked itself close enough to entertain us but far enough for us to feel (pseudo?) safe. We weren't sure what these creatures in the water were called but there were a ton of them. Another hiker educated us silly city folk and let us know they are called water dogs. If you ask me, they look nothing like a dog.
The Food
Pork tenderloins, green salad, brown rice, rolls, red vines, s'mores (of course), bacon-fried cheese-egg sandwiches... we, all 23 and 1/2 of us, love food. When we first got set up, the kids raided the Courtney & co. cooler and downed the nectarines like they were candy.
The Dirt
Samuel was right at home.
The Novelty of it All...
Hiking to the lake, walking on "mountains", the hand washing station, snowball fight in August, absolutely perfect hiking weather, Samuel being the water boy, Eva getting devoured by mosquitoes again (they love her and her bites swell up so bad that one on her forehead is making her look like a Klingon today), fearing the words, "I need to go potty," Heather and Cyd's musical talents, Scott saving Samuel from charging into a moose, searching for firewood, taking a walk with glow sticks, fights over flashlights, and Eva illegally picking flowers over and over.
All of this, just 30 minutes from our house. We had such a great time. Three weeks of planning, three days of stressing out, one day of packing, two days of unpacking (um, I am still not done with that one), socks that will never be white again, all for a one night camping trip with some of my favorite people in the world. Totally worth it.

Where was it? It looks like a great spot and so much fun. My kids would LOVE IT!
I agree. Camping is soooooo much work, but definitely worth it for the memories. Sounds and looks like it was fun.
I love the picture of your family. The background looks almost too perfect like a back-drop at Sears or JCPenny.
Poor Eva's head!
Looks like so much fun.
What fun! I love your pictures too. Makes me want to go hiking!
What a fun trip. So who is the "1/2" person???
Looks like fun. Ted is just dying to try and get the family out in the mountains this year, but things just aren't cooperating for us.
That is the coolest family picture -- it should be in a magazine.
Ditto--I love your family picture. Practically perfect in every way.
Great photos - your kids are so cute, and I love camping, especially when it is only for 1 night!
Can I grow up to post like you? Seriously. I want lessons on how to document my life. I was even with you, and your post makes me want to be there.
Looks like a lot of fun. You are much braver than me. We took Jax camping one time and I have vowed never to do it again. I am sure I will eventually, but right now I think I will just enjoy the beaches here and stay in a Cabana. :)Glad you guys are doing well.
p.s. you weren't the only person who thought we were coming back to the states. Kessee was a little confusing on that blog...sorry.
yeah, that all happened after the pictures, crazy huh? anyway, i'm feeling better, still not perfect, but better. I'm way excited to play settlers again though. Fun camping pictures!!
wow. makes me miss the mountains. I set up our tent on our front yard two days ago and slept in it. I was hoping Kitty would sleep there with me, but no go.
pork tenderloins in the mountains? Are you serious? I always get hotdogs or something.
looks beautiful.
I feel like I'm catching up on life after a coma. FUN blog about our little camping trip. I wish I hadn't had the "1/2" sickness so we could have stayed overnight. Oh well...
